# Inspection Photo Review Checklist

Use this checklist before closing an inspection record or sharing photos with a client, trade, or insurer.

## Before you start

- [ ] Confirm the project, area, inspection type, and date are correct.
- [ ] Review the inspection scope, drawings, approved change orders, and prior open items.
- [ ] Clean the camera lens and confirm the device date and time are correct.
- [ ] Photograph safely; do not enter restricted areas or bypass site safety requirements.

## Capture the condition

- [ ] Take a wide photo that identifies the room, elevation, or work area.
- [ ] Take medium photos that show the surrounding work.
- [ ] Take close-ups of each condition, detail, measurement, label, or defect.
- [ ] Include a scale, ruler, or known reference where size matters.
- [ ] Photograph both the issue and the context needed to locate it.
- [ ] Capture completed work from more than one angle when coverage matters.
- [ ] Photograph concealed work before it is covered when the project requires it.

## Review each photo

- [ ] The photo is in focus, well lit, and not blocked by fingers, glare, or equipment.
- [ ] The image shows the relevant condition clearly without relying on a caption alone.
- [ ] The filename, album, or record ties the photo to the right project and area.
- [ ] Captions state what is shown, where it is, and why it matters.
- [ ] Markups or arrows identify the exact item without hiding important detail.
- [ ] Photos do not show private information, access codes, or unrelated people.

## Close out

- [ ] List each finding, responsible party, and required next step.
- [ ] Assign a due date when follow-up is needed.
- [ ] Record whether the item passed, needs correction, or needs a decision.
- [ ] Confirm required photos and notes are attached before sharing the record.
